The Bachelor of Science in Business/Accounting program promotes identification with and orientation to the accounting profession and is designed to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary in the workplace. Core competencies in technology, critical thinking, and communication are emphasized throughout the curriculum. Technology, in particular, is embedded in all accounting courses. Students also have broad exposure to varied business disciplines, including management, organizational behavior, economics, statistics, and finance, and learn how the general manager integrates these disciplines to meet the strategic goals of the organization.

University of Phoenix Online Accounting Degree: Basic Principles and Course Concepts

Students in the MBA accounting degree program build on basic business principles, concentrating learning to attain a real-world understanding of financial and human resources management.

Students in the Accounting Concentration of the MBA will build upon the managerial skills developed in the MBA required course of study by developing an understanding of accounting concepts and applications. Students will also become competent in the use of appropriate analytical tools and technologies. They will be sensitive to legal, ethical, and social values in the conduct and communication of accounting practice and decisions. In addition, students will have an understanding of a portion of the topics required in preparation for the CPA exam: Audit & Attestation, Financial Accounting & Reporting, Regulation, and Business

Throughout the program, students are encouraged to develop decision-making skills in the context of practical situations akin to those they might encounter in the business world.
