Can I become a member of Eta Theta?
You can become a member of Eta Theta if you are a student enrolled in a criminal justice degree program at University of Phoenix and meet the requirements listed on the Eligibility page.
How do I join?
Eta Theta, in conjunction with University of Phoenix, automatically conducts an eligibility review of all criminal justice/security students as of December 31st of each year. Students do not need to express interest to be included in the eligibility review. The Campus College Chair then reviews the list of eligible students, and determines who will receive an invitation. The invitation to join Eta Theta is sent in March of each year. NOTE: It is up to each invited student to respond and indicate his/her interest in being accepted into the chapter.
Who is ineligible to become a member of Eta Theta?
Students who are currently on Academic Probation or who have had a documented University of Phoenix Code of Conduct violation are not eligible for membership.
I am a new member of Eta Theta and I want to wear my honor cord at graduation. Do I have to order one?
You must contact Alpha Phi Sigma to order graduation honor cords and other regalia. You may contact Alpha Phi Sigma national headquarters at 954.262.7004 or Headquarters@AlphaPhiSigma.org. You also may contact your Regional Advisor or Campus College Chair for more information.
I was invited for membership and returned the application and dues but haven't heard anything. What is the process at this point?
After the application due date, Eta Theta sends the membership information to Alpha Phi Sigma national headquarters. The headquarters will then create packets and mail them to Eta Theta in May. New members are sent a letter in late April or early May that includes information about attending a local induction ceremony. At the induction ceremony, new members will receive their membership packets.
What if I am unable to attend a local induction or there isn't one in my area?
If you are unable to attend a local induction ceremony, your Campus College Chair will mail your membership materials to you, as well as your cord if you ordered one. You will still be inducted in absencia.
I am a member of another Alpha Phi Sigma chapter. Can I transfer my membership to Eta Theta?
Students with Alpha Phi Sigma membership from a previous college may transfer their membership to Eta Theta without paying fees to national headquarters. For more information, email EtaTheta@email.phoenix.edu.
I am a member of Eta Theta and want to be more involved with the chapter. How can I do that?
We love that question! Please contact your Regional Advisor or Campus College Chair. He or she can inform you of any opportunities.
I am a member of other non-Alpha Phi Sigma honor societies. What does this mean for my membership in Eta Theta?
Membership in Alpha Phi Sigma is not based on membership in any other organization. All students, regardless of membership in any other honor societies, must qualify and join Alpha Phi Sigma according to regular procedures.
