About our Counseling Programs
If your goal is to work as a licensed professional in the counseling field, you will need a graduate-level degree. At University of Phoenix, our College of Health and Human Services is proud to provide a rigorous Master of Science in Counseling program to meet your needs and help you achieve your goal.
Our graduate-level counseling program, which is available only in certain states, encompasses the foundations of counseling and guidance, including:
- theories and their application with groups and individuals
- assessment and evaluation
- counseling and consultive relationships
- program development, implementation and evaluation
The Master of Science in Counseling program is offered with specializations in community counseling, school counseling, mental health counseling, and marriage, family and child therapy. No matter which of these specializations you choose, your course curriculum is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed by competent, ethical practitioners. Your degree program will address critical issues facing counselors today and offer supervised clinical experiences.
Additionally, as part of the University of Phoenix educational approach, you will learn from faculty members with substantial experience in the counseling field. These faculty members focus on facilitating instruction rather than providing passive lectures.
Your learning experience also will focus on problem-solving, active participation, teamwork and application of theory to real-world situations.
